Games on Monday August 2nd
The Civic Holiday Weekend includes Monday August 2 as a statutory holiday.
Due to typical long-weekend attendence, the GLSL has moved all games off Friday July 30th and Sunday August 1st. As has been practiced in all previous years, the games on the night before a regular workday (in this case, Monday August 2nd) remain in place.
Coaches should survey their players for their availability for all games in the week of August 2-5, since this week tends to have a high vacation incidence. If there are insufficient players available for a game then attempt to use call-ups. If call-ups are not available then:
- Email glsl.schedules@gmail.com to have the game parked in December pending rescheduling,
- Contact your opposing coach and inform them why you are asking to not have the game played that week. Obtain weeknights which are preferred for the rescheduled game,
- The home team coach will contact their field scheduler to find a field on which to play the game. Be aware that there will be only three weeks left in the season and fields are at a premium, so you may well be playing your make-up games according to field availability and not team preference (possibly including Sunday nights).
Per the Procedural Agreement, if a game rescheduling request is not received at least 6 days ahead of the game date the opposing coach has the option of a win-by-default or playing on a different date.
Towards the end of the season, games which need to be played to determine first place in the division standings will be scheduled by the league, if necessary.
If any game is not played before the Saturday of the Cups for that division, the game is scored as a double-default regardless of the reason the game was originally rescheduled.Back
