Weather Advisory
The weather forecast for this week indicates high temperatures, high humidity, resulting in a very high humidex. Those conducting strenuous outdoor physical activity, including playing soccer, are at risk due to the high heat.
The GLSL may elect to cancel all games for an evening, in which case a notice will be placed on the website home page, the referees will be notified, and all team officials will be notified. Players will be notified by their team officials. This decision is made around 2-4pm, and is based on the forecast weather for 7pm.
In the absence of a global cancellation, it is expected that players will go to the game site. Parents deciding to keep their players home place the remaining players on the team at an increased risk, since the number of substitutes will be fewer.
Coaches are encouraged to:
- Aggressively call-up players, to ensure there are sufficient substitutes,
- Discuss with the referee the inclusion of water breaks, and optionally a brief rest, during the half,
- Discuss with the referee the shortening of each half, or the lengthening of the half-time break.
